Casey Stoner plans to move beyond his health issues and take on a new position supporting young riders.
Towards the latter part of his MotoGP career, Stoner was troubled by chronic fatigue syndrome, a condition that still affects him today.
Stoner, who won the MotoGP championship twice, stepped away from the sport in 2012 when he was only 27 years old and has remained out of the spotlight since then.
He mentioned on the Ducati Diaries podcast that he is still working on recovering from chronic fatigue syndrome.
"The situation has improved during the last few years."
"However, I've experienced many highs and lows, with extended times spent just sitting on the couch."
"I truly want to complete that."
"For that reason, I distanced myself almost completely from MotoGP and sports overall."
"It was difficult to see, as I couldn't go out and take action."
"That led to a significant amount of depression. As a result, I distanced myself from the industry."
Future Prospects for Casey Stoner: This year, Stoner took on the role of commentator and broadcaster for the Phillip Island MotoGP event, working with TNT Sports.
However, he imagines himself taking on a new position in the future.
"I am gradually finding myself more engaged with it once more, as I now have the energy to devote to it," Stoner remarked.
"I have a clearer understanding of what's happening."
"I still have an interest in collaborating with a few riders. This doesn't mean going through the entire selection procedure, but rather choosing a couple of them."
"I possess much to offer and see things from a unique viewpoint compared to many others."
"There are specific aspects of MotoGP where I believe I excelled more than my peers."
"There are certain things I recognize I could have done better."
"There are specific things from which I've gained significant knowledge, and some of this information has never been shared with anyone."
"I would be open to the chance to collaborate with the right individuals, using my years of experience to support someone deserving, and assist them in reaching their objectives."
