Racing Home: Bagnaia and Marquez’s Surprising Decision Stirs the MotoGP Paddock
Surprise over Pecco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez's choice viewed as a "hazard" and "burden"
"It's an enormous physical burden – and one he could sidestep"
A choice that Francesco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez concur on has astonished those within the racing community.
The two competitors will return home right after the MotoGP event in Japan, and then they'll journey from Europe to Australia for the upcoming round of the MotoGP series.
The upcoming event at Phillip Island in Australia is scheduled for October 18-20, just two weeks away.

"After securing a victory in Motegi, Bagnaia shared with TNT Sports that he heads home to relax and savor some moments of rest."
"I'm unable to return to my family's hometown as I must remain in Pesaro."
"However, I plan to dedicate my Sunday to lounging on the couch while enjoying Superbike races and Formula 1; it's going to be enjoyable!"
Yet, his strategic choice has taken many by surprise.
"Neil Hodgson from TNT Sports expressed astonishment, describing it as an enormous event."
"We're heading back. It's clear you're suffering from jet lag. And then, in just a week, you'll be traveling to Australia, which means you'll be dealing with significant jet lag again."
"I can't believe he's returning home."
"He is accompanied by his spouse, surrounded by his companions and peers."
"I assumed he would head directly to Australia."
Michael Laverty mentioned, "You return to what feels familiar to eat the food you desire."
You have the option to stick with the Australian time zone if you prefer – it's challenging, given you're naturally inclined to be up late.
"If you're someone who thrives on routine and cherishes the comforts of home, then it might be worthwhile to make the trip back."
"However, you expose yourself to the potential viruses and germs present on the airplane. Upon returning, you'll also have to adjust your internal clock back to the local time zone."
"He's undergoing a tremendous physical challenge, a situation he wouldn't have to face if his wife were with him. He has the option to travel to Australia and relax by the seaside."
Bagnaia isn't the only one opting to return to Europe even though he's aware that another extensive flight is on the horizon in just a week.
Marquez affirmed, "I will now return to Spain."
"For a week, I prefer to unwind at home to recuperate. I focus on self-care and tending to my physical well-being, gearing up for the upcoming trio of races."
The international segment of the MotoGP championship has kicked off, requiring riders primarily based in Europe to tackle the complexities of global travel.
Following consecutive events in Indonesia and Japan, there's a week's pause before the series moves on to a trio of races spanning Australia, Thailand, and Malaysia.
The season concludes in Valencia.
