Qualcomm Unveils Groundbreaking Snapdragon Chip with Laptop-grade Capabilities: A Game Changer in AI and Home-Grown Technology
Qualcomm has revealed a mobile phone chip that possesses the power equivalent to a laptop, designed to bolster artificial intelligence. The newest edition of the Snapdragon series will feature Qualcomm's own design as the firm increases its investments in domestic technology.
Qualcomm announced on Monday in Hawaii that their newest Snapdragon series will feature their proprietary Oryon processor. The company claims that this chip will be 45% quicker and more energy-efficient than its predecessor.
Qualcomm's offerings hold a significant share in the market for mobile gadgets running on the Android platform. This makes the firm's tech advancements crucial for numerous global smartphone manufacturers in their bid to rival Apple.
Qualcomm's choice to revert to its own processor designs is a strategic move by CEO Cristiano Amon to increase investment in domestically developed technology. Under prior management, the Snapdragon series had grown increasingly dependent on the designs provided by Arm Holdings.
Oryon, created by a group of engineers that Amon incorporated through Qualcomm's purchase of the start-up Nuvia, is now an integral component of the chips the company markets for laptops.
