President Xi Visits Strategic Island Amid PLA Drills, Highlights Cultural Heritage and Rural Revitalization Efforts
Chinese President Xi Jinping recently toured Dongshan county in Fujian, as reported by CCTV. However, the broadcast did not provide specific information regarding the start date of his visit to the province. This inspection follows military exercises by the People's Liberation Army, which simulated a blockade around Taiwan.
On Tuesday afternoon, Xi Jinping visited Dongshan county located in Fujian province in the southeast, according to a report from state broadcaster CCTV.
The island county, which faces Taiwan, has often been used as a standard location for the PLA's drills. A CCTV broadcast on Wednesday indicated that Xi reviewed efforts related to the rejuvenation of the countryside, upholding the Communist Party's revolutionary values, and preserving cultural heritage.
However, the report did not specify the exact location in Fujian where Xi began his journey or the scheduled departure date from the region.
As reported by Xinhua, the state news agency, Xi Jinping was last seen in public on Monday morning during his visit to pay tribute to Wu Bangguo, the former head of China's legislature, who passed away on October 8.
During his routine domestic tours, Xi often visits a local division of the People's Liberation Army (PLA). However, it remains uncertain whether he has visited or intends to visit one on his current journey.
