The head of Plaid Cymru has affirmed that it is feasible for the party to lead the Welsh government following the upcoming Senedd election.
The upcoming elections for selecting representatives to the Welsh parliament are scheduled for May 2026.
Before the party's two-day gathering at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on Friday, Rhun ap Iorwerth spoke to Sky News, stating that a Labour win in the upcoming election was "not a certainty" and that a victory for Plaid was "definitely" within the realm of possibility.
"He said, 'The survey conducted right after the UK general election indicated we were only one percentage point away from Labour, clearly demonstrating that change is achievable.'"
"My role is to ensure we are in the best possible stance regarding the options we provide to the Welsh populace."
In the recent general election, Plaid Cymru captured four of the 32 available Welsh seats, achieving its largest percentage of the vote since the party was established.
