A mere 30% of Americans believe trade with China has generated jobs in their state, according to a recent survey. Additionally, a relatively small proportion of U.S. residents express moderate to extreme concern over China surpassing them in trade competitiveness.

A new study has shown that only 30 percent of Americans think that trading with China has generated "some or many jobs" in their state, as the US election approaches.

According to a study by the East-West Centre, a research group in Washington, more than 55 percent of Americans are unaware of how trade with Asia, and specifically China, affects job creation.

Survey participants identified as part of the general U.S. population expressed less concern compared to their counterparts in political and business leadership roles regarding America falling behind China in trade competitiveness.

Just 36 percent of those surveyed expressed "moderate or extreme concern," in contrast to over half of the political and business leaders polled who shared that sentiment.
