Starting from 19th position, Leclerc made an impressive climb to eighth place by the end of the first lap in Abu Dhabi. Nevertheless, he is likely to lament the error he made during qualifying, which resulted in his elimination in Q2.

Fernando Alonso – 8.5

Alonso had another weekend that flew under the radar. He secured a spot in the top 10 during both qualifying and the race. Given the current circumstances, Aston Martin couldn't really expect more from him.

Renowned as one of the top racing drivers in history, Michael Schumacher has cemented his legacy in Formula 1.

However, Schumacher's existence took a drastic turn after he was involved in a terrible skiing accident on December 29, 2013.

The seven-time world champion has remained away from public view since then, with his family providing only infrequent updates about his health, which they have kept confidential.

What occurred with Schumacher?

Michael Schumacher found himself in a severe condition following a skiing accident with his son Mick at the Meribel ski resort in France on December 29, 2013.

At the age of 44, he had recently retired from Formula 1 for the second time after the conclusion of the previous season. His comeback to the racing world was with Mercedes, where he competed from 2010 to 2012.

Schumacher sustained severe brain injuries after falling and striking his head on a rock, despite wearing a helmet. He was in a coma when he was brought to a hospital in France.

Corinna Schumacher, the wife of the legendary racer who has won 91 grand prix events, mentioned that he is "not the same, but he is present."

Corinna expressed that he continues to demonstrate his strength daily. "As a family, we're striving to move forward," she added.

According to reports from the German press, as the 10th anniversary of his skiing accident approaches in late 2023, Schumacher is under constant care provided by a team that could include as many as 15 caregivers. To help trigger brain activity with recognizable sounds, he has been taken for drives in a Mercedes road car and exposed to audio from Formula 1 races.

Mick Schumacher, son of the renowned racer, has embarked on his Formula 1 career with Haas in 2021, following his victory in the F2 championship.

The young driver, aged 23, had a two-year stint in Formula 1 racing with the Haas team, achieving his top result with a sixth-place finish at the Austrian Grand Prix in 2022. Presently, he serves as the reserve driver for Mercedes, the same team where his father concluded his racing career.

In March 2017, Mick spoke openly for the first time about his father, referring to him as "my idol" and "my role model."

In the Netflix documentary about Schumacher, Mick expressed that he "would sacrifice anything" just to have the opportunity to discuss racing with his father, Michael.

A potential £30 million payout is being discussed, yet Adrian Newey is considered a "bargain" and is said to earn less than he deserves. Martin Brundle often remarks that Newey's salary is surprisingly low for his value.

It has been asserted that the substantial salary Adrian Newey receives from Aston Martin will be a valuable investment.

The chief technology officer from Red Bull is only a few months from beginning his new role at Aston Martin, where he will serve as the managing technical partner and hold a stake in the company.

According to reports, Lawrence Stroll, the billionaire behind Aston Martin, plans to offer Adrian Newey a salary that exceeds what 18 out of the 20 current Formula 1 drivers earn, as part of his quest for success.

According to Craig Slater from Sky Sports, the number he is most certain of, amidst many publicly available figures, is an annual base salary of $25 million, which is slightly less than £20 million.

"The bonuses have the potential to increase the amount by an additional 50%, bringing the total to £30 million."

The contract is set for a five-year duration, but it remains indefinite since he holds shares in the company. Therefore, it might continue indefinitely.

"These conditions are more advantageous than those proposed by any competitors."

Eddie Jordan was a strong advocate for Newey, pushing hard during negotiations. Initially, the asking price was set at $50 million, but Lawrence Stroll managed to negotiate a lower figure. This is the information I have received.

Martin Brundle reveals the reason behind Michael Schumacher's five-year silence towards him. Schumacher remained uncommunicative with Brundle for half a decade.

Renowned Formula 1 commentator Martin Brundle disclosed that Michael Schumacher, who has won the world championship seven times, did not communicate with him for a period of five years.

After stepping away from his career as a Formula 1 driver in the late 1990s, Brundle has consistently been a fixture in the commentary booth.

Brundle is famous for his pre-race grid walks and his sometimes uncomfortable encounters with celebrities.

During a discussion on the Sky F1 podcast, Brundle looked back on his distinguished career in broadcasting after retiring from racing.

While discussing the matter, he mentioned his connection with Schumacher.

In 1992, Brundle raced alongside Schumacher as his teammate at Benetton, but he was replaced for the next season.

The British commentator provided coverage for Schumacher's numerous championship victories with Ferrari, as well as his return to racing with Mercedes in 2010.

Brundle revealed that he and Schumacher had no communication for a period of five years when questioned about his interactions with him.

In an explanation, Brundle mentioned: "Interestingly, we had a disagreement due to a comment I made that was misinterpreted, translated into German, and then used as a newspaper headline."

Michael became extremely agitated, and to this day, I still don't understand the reason. He refused to talk to me for five years, which was quite strange.

"After that, we ended up getting intoxicated together at a nightclub in Valencia while he was taking a break between his time at Mercedes and his move to Ferrari."

"After that moment, everything was good between us. He was leaning on my shoulder, saying, 'You're my teammate, you're my teammate!'"

The director has disclosed that Red Bull was concerned about being portrayed as the "villain" in the forthcoming Formula 1 film.

Lewis Hamilton is taking on the roles of producer and advisor for the upcoming movie titled 'F1,' featuring Brad Pitt, which is set to premiere next year.

Co-producer Jerry Bruckheimer clarified that actual Formula 1 teams were worried about their portrayal in the film.

According to Bruckheimer, the intriguing aspect is that once they partnered with Mercedes, the other teams expressed concern, saying: "Hold on, this film will focus on Mercedes, and we'll end up looking unfavorable."

Red Bull stated, "We have decided to take on the role of the antagonists."

Aston Martin's competitors might come to regret not hiring Adrian Newey. "Eventually, the outcome will be victory."

Lawrence Stroll is recognized for outpacing his major competitors in securing Adrian Newey's contract.

Jacques Villeneuve, the F1 world champion from 1997, thinks that Lewis Hamilton should "begin anew" when he joins Ferrari for the 2025 season.

Hamilton is set to debut in Ferrari's iconic red at the Australian Grand Prix in March.

During his debut with Ferrari, he will not have the support of his reliable race engineer, Peter ‘Bono’ Bonnington.

Bono won't be joining Hamilton at Ferrari, which means the seven-time world champion will experience working with a new race engineer for the first time since 2012.

The duo shares a strong bond, leading to Hamilton securing six world championships with Mercedes.

Bono additionally coined the popular term ‘Hammertime’ that fans love.

Bonnington has been elevated to a new position as the head of race engineering at Mercedes.

In an interview with Governor Sport, Villeneuve discussed the advantages of beginning entirely anew.

"When you make a significant change, as Lewis Hamilton is doing, it means you begin anew without bringing along your previous team members, such as your former engineer or physiotherapist like Angela Cullen," he stated.

"He has achieved victories driving for both McLaren and Mercedes, so that's not a concern."

In early 2023, Hamilton parted ways with Angela Cullen, an important figure in his close-knit team.

For several years, Cullen served as Hamilton's physiotherapist while he was with the Mercedes team.

Villeneuve stated: "I’m not sure about the dynamics between Angela and Lewis. In my experience, drivers typically depend on their engineers, who are the individuals closest to them during a race weekend."
