Max Verstappen Unfazed by Red Bull’s ‘Tea-Tray’ Adjustments Amid FIA Scrutiny Ahead of US Grand Prix
Max Verstappen downplays worries about Red Bull's 'tea-tray' modification
Max Verstappen expresses confidence, stating that he has no concerns regarding the alterations Red Bull has made to their Formula 1 vehicle.
Max Verstappen asserts he is not worried about Red Bull being directed to modify their Formula 1 car after a regulatory crackdown by the FIA.
Before the United States Grand Prix taking place this weekend, Red Bull announced that they have modified their car after consultations with the FIA, the governing authority of Formula 1.
The discussions focused on a device that competitors believed Red Bull might employ to alter the front floor height of the car while in parc ferme, an action prohibited by F1 regulations.
Red Bull has consented to eliminate the component known as the ‘bib’ or ‘tea-tray’ feature, which has been a significant topic of discussion leading up to the Austin event.
Verstappen mentioned to Sky Sports F1 that he doesn't have any concerns at the moment.
"I aim to enjoy myself and give my best effort. Each race holds significance, and this particular one is especially crucial, so we are eager to perform well."
"We'll evaluate how the car performs with the new upgrades. Additionally, there have been significant modifications to the track's surface, so we must adapt to those changes as well."
"From my perspective, everything remains the same with the Tea-tray. So, everything is fine."
Current world champion Verstappen holds a 52-point lead over McLaren's Lando Norris in the championship standings. There are six grand prix events and three sprint races left in this season's schedule.
Norris claimed that Red Bull committed a straightforward violation involving their contentious bib, and his teammate Oscar Piastri concurred, stating that this gadget clearly goes against F1 regulations.
"We're clearly testing the limits of the technical rules," Piastri stated. "Everyone does it, and that's the essence of what makes F1 unique."
"Based on what I've been informed and have heard, this doesn't just test the limits; it outright exceeds them."
"I haven't been informed about which vehicle it might be on, or even if it's on any vehicle at all, though there have been reports about it. However, if it is indeed in use, it's evidently not just testing the limits; it's moved beyond a grey area into a clearly unacceptable one."
