Liam Lawson Tests Red Bull’s Mettle in Pirelli F1 Tyre Trials at Mugello Ahead of US Grand Prix Debut
Liam Lawson had the chance to showcase his skills for Red Bull during the Pirelli F1 tyre testing on Tuesday at Mugello.
Liam Lawson took to the track for Red Bull during a Pirelli tire trial, gearing up for the upcoming United States Grand Prix next weekend.
Lawson is set to rejoin the Formula 1 circuit as a principal driver at the Circuit of The Americas, stepping in for Daniel Ricciardo, and was recently seen driving for Red Bull.
At Mugello, Pirelli had four drivers participating, with Lando Norris taking the wheel for McLaren.
Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc took turns on the track for Ferrari.
Red Bull and Ferrari concentrated on helping Pirelli in developing their tyres for 2025.
Conversely, McLaren tested a prototype vehicle, experimenting with concept tyres set for 2026.
Initially, the track conditions were damp, leading to the selection of intermediate tyres.
By 11am, squads had transitioned to using slick tires, successfully executing the agenda outlined by Pirelli.
Regarding lap times, Norris achieved the highest number of laps, recording a fastest lap of 1 minute and 21.302 seconds over a total of 118 laps.
Lawson finished 116 circuits, achieving a time of 1 minute and 23.219 seconds along the way.
Leclerc recorded a fastest lap of 1 minute and 21.053 seconds after completing 79 laps, whereas Sainz managed to complete 77 laps, achieving his best time of 1 minute and 21.890 seconds.
