Johann Zarco Eyes Suzuka 8 Hours Return, Urges Honda to Improve Ahead of Dall’Igna’s Potential Entry
Johann Zarco expressed enthusiasm about participating in the Suzuka 8 Hours race once more. He also issued a caution to Honda, emphasizing the importance of making advancements in their performance before Dall’Igna enters the scene. According to Zarco, it's crucial for Honda to improve before Dall’Igna joins the competition.
Johann Zarco, who was part of the victorious Honda team during his first appearance at the Suzuka 8 Hours this year, is considering a comeback for the endurance race in 2025.
The Suzuka round scheduled for the following year is set for August 1-3, aligning with a free weekend during the MotoGP summer hiatus.
Zarco mentioned the possibility of participating in the 8 Hours race again in 2025, saying, "Perhaps, if circumstances allow." He noted that he would need to review the schedule to see how it aligns, but after this year's enjoyable experience, he expressed a keen interest in repeating the adventure.
The French rider, who teamed up with Takumi Takahashi and Teppei Nagoe to secure Honda’s third consecutive win at Suzuka, is not the sole MotoGP celebrity keen on the endurance event.
Current world champion Francesco Bagnaia has described participating in the 8 hours as "one of my biggest dreams," although he is concerned that he may not have the opportunity to compete in it until he retires from MotoGP.
Ducati set the stage for a future competitive effort by supporting Team Kagayama, who secured fourth position in this year's race.
After spending four seasons with Ducati in MotoGP, Zarco transitioned to LCR Honda this season and commented:
"I haven't had a conversation with Pecco, but I informed Honda that we need to make advancements before Dall’Igna enters this [Suzuka] class. Otherwise, we won't be able to secure any more victories!"
