Jack Miller’s Emotional Rollercoaster: From MotoGP Uncertainty to Pramac Lifeline
Jack Miller: "I was in tears" upon hearing his MotoGP career seemed finished
The four-time race victor shares his emotions about the period prior to receiving a lifeline from Pramac MotoGP for 2025.
Jack Miller confessed that he "was in tears" earlier this year upon hearing that his MotoGP career seemed to be coming to an end because "all the opportunities had disappeared."
Since debuting in the top tier in 2015, the Australian has grown into one of the most well-liked personalities in the paddock. He is set to extend his career into an 11th season by signing with Pramac Yamaha for 2025.
As the summer break approached this year, it seemed almost certain that his chances of staying on the grid had disappeared after KTM decided to remove him from their team.
During the British Grand Prix, he revealed that he was initially instructed to reject competing offers because KTM was keen to keep him at Tech3. However, the Austrian brand eventually chose to sign Maverick Vinales and Enea Bastianini.
In a conversation with motogp.com, Miller shares his feelings about this time and acknowledges that he was considering "exploring opportunities elsewhere.”
When questioned about his thoughts on not competing next season, he admitted, "Frankly, I had come to terms with the reality that everything would remain shut for the upcoming year."
"I was informed that all the options were no longer available. Honestly, I had already begun to take steps in a different direction."
"I truly wasn't fabricating anything when I mentioned that I was in tears. It wasn't the kind of crying with loud sobs, but rather tears stemming from the realization that this was a lifelong effort for me. We are incredibly fortunate to have another opportunity to pursue it."
"It increased my desire even more."
During the summer, reports emerged that Miller had been extended an offer to rejoin Ducati, his previous team, in the World Superbikes series for the 2025 season.
At the British Grand Prix weekend, he confessed to journalists that there were no MotoGP opportunities available to him. Nonetheless, it's believed that an opportunity with Pramac emerged during the Silverstone event.
Between 2018 and 2020, Miller competed for Pramac, riding a Ducati, before being promoted to the official factory team of the Italian brand in 2021.
Throughout the majority of his time at Ducati, Miller was partnered with the current two-time world champion, Francesco Bagnaia.
When questioned about the most challenging competitor he has faced throughout his career, Miller responded that Pecco has been the toughest, as he has risen to meet the challenge.
"I commend him for his remarkable achievements."
