Horner Signals Red Bull’s RB20 Revival Against McLaren’s Dominance Ahead of F1’s Final Stretch
Christian Horner issues a strong warning about RB20's progress to McLaren
"We're aware of their strong points, as well as their vulnerabilities"
Christian Horner emphasizes that Red Bull is aware of the areas where their RB20 needs enhancement as the F1 season approaches its concluding phase.
McLaren has secured the position as the swiftest vehicle in the lineup, surpassing Red Bull to take the top spot in the constructors' standings.
The formidable RB20, initially unbeatable at the beginning of this year, has now been surpassed, yet Horner has committed to enhancing its performance in the next races.
"The form has to be torn up," conceded the principal of the Red Bull team to Channel 4, referring to attending tracks where their vehicle usually performs well.
"McLaren has become the dominant vehicle in the competition."
"We identify their areas of expertise and their vulnerabilities."
"We are aware of the areas that require enhancement."
"Our team is diligently focusing on a new line of development."
Lando Norris emerged victorious at the Singapore Grand Prix, reducing the gap in the drivers' standings to 52 points behind Max Verstappen.
However, Horner emphasizes that there were positive aspects for Red Bull in Singapore, with Verstappen securing a second-place finish after Norris.
"Reflecting on our situation from Friday, where we felt backed into a corner, the entire team really pulled together and made a significant improvement. Max truly pushed the car to its limits," he commented.
"We lacked the speed to compete with Lando – hats off to McLaren – but we managed to outpace the rest."
"We have three weeks to prepare for a strong comeback in Austin."
In contrast to the summer vacation period, the factory operates around the clock.
"There are six main races and a handful of sprint races remaining. There's still a significant amount of racing action ahead."
"We are committed to continuing our efforts all the way to Abu Dhabi, not surrendering anything."
"Enthusiasm is soaring in Milton Keynes. We're aware that we're facing six challenging races before the year is out."
He remarked, "Observe the remarkable improvement from Friday to Sunday. It was a collective effort, with Max dedicating time, the drivers working hard, and the team in Milton Keynes…
"Last year, we faced significant challenges on this circuit."
"We've seen promising indicators in the recent weekends. We were expected to secure a podium finish in Azerbaijan."
"Let's turn our attention to Austin and the upcoming circuits, as there is significant diversity ahead."
Formula 1 will resume on October 18-20 in Texas.
