From Despair to Renewal: Jack Miller’s Emotional Journey to Securing a 2025 MotoGP Lifeline with Pramac
Jack Miller Shares Emotional Reaction Upon Hearing MotoGP Career Might End
Reveals his emotional struggle before receiving a career-saving opportunity with Pramac MotoGP for 2025
Jack Miller revealed that he found himself in tears earlier this year upon hearing that his MotoGP career seemed to have come to an end, as "all the options had disappeared."
Since debuting in the premier class in 2015, the Australian rider has risen to become a favorite among the racing community. He is set to extend his career into an 11th season in 2025 by signing with Pramac Yamaha.
Yet, as the summer break approached this year, it seemed almost certain that he would not retain his spot on the grid, following KTM's decision to exclude him from its lineup.
During the British Grand Prix, he mentioned that initially, he was advised to reject proposals from competitors because KTM intended to keep him with Tech3. However, eventually, KTM decided to bring on board Maverick Vinales and Enea Bastianini instead.
In a conversation with motogp.com, Miller shares his feelings about this phase and acknowledges that he was considering “shifting his career path”.
"Truthfully, I had accepted that all doors were shut for the upcoming year," he commented, in response to inquiries about his doubts regarding his presence on the grid the following season.
"I was essentially informed that there were no longer any options available. Truthfully, I had already begun pursuing a different path.
"I assure you, it's the truth when I mention that tears were shed. It wasn't sobbing in the usual sense, but rather tears of emotion because this represents a culmination of lifelong effort, and we are incredibly fortunate to have another opportunity."
"And I believe it intensified my hunger even further."
During the summer, news emerged that Miller had been approached with a proposal to rejoin his previous sponsors, Ducati, in the World Superbikes championship for the 2025 season.
At the British Grand Prix, he disclosed to journalists that he was not considering any MotoGP opportunities. Nonetheless, it's believed that an opportunity with Pramac emerged during the Silverstone event.
Before joining the Italian brand's official team in 2021, Miller competed for Pramac riding a Ducati from 2018 to 2020.
Throughout the majority of his tenure at Ducati, Miller shared the team with the current two-time world champion, Francesco Bagnaia.
When questioned about his most formidable competitor throughout his career, Miller responded, “I believe Pecco has been the toughest since he's the one who has really risen to the occasion.
"I give him my utmost respect, because witnessing his achievements is truly remarkable."
