After an impressive opening lap, Quartararo surged to 10th position but then fell behind Raul Fernandez, Johann Zarco, and Jack Miller.
During the last seven laps, Quartararo passed the same three competitors to secure ninth position, finishing 18.757 seconds behind the leader.
"It's unfortunate. During the initial laps, the rear tire gave me a lot of trouble," he mentioned to TNT Sports.
"I came very close to experiencing a highside multiple times."
"We need to figure out the reason for the delay in getting the rear tire to heat up."
"After that, we were pleased with the performance in the final 15 laps. Our speed was pretty strong."
"We are hopeful that we can discover the correct method to heat the tire effectively."
In recent races, Quartararo has leisurely crossed the finish line after depleting his fuel, but fortunately, this did not happen at Phillip Island.
"The fuel level was satisfactory! On this track, there are no problems related to fuel. We had a sufficient amount to complete the race," he stated.
Quartararo commented afterward, "I got off to an excellent start, but the early stages of the race proved to be challenging."
"I experienced a few close calls with losing control of the bike, and I wasn't able to match the speed of the leading riders."
"The latter half of the race went exceptionally well, and I'm pleased, particularly with the final ten laps, which were quite impressive. I believe there are lessons we can take away from this race."
"Significant Progress Made"
Yamaha's other rider, Alex Rins, began the race in ninth place but ultimately crossed the finish line in 13th position.
Rins expressed contentment with their performance in the race today.
"We put in our best effort, but I'm not completely happy with the outcome."
"We did make some enhancements to the bike by altering a few components."
"The difference was slightly smaller than in the Sprint race, but we still have to continue improving."
"There are still a few issues that the team has recognized, and we now require some time to address them."
Team director Massimo Meregalli commented, "This race weekend presented challenges for us, but we concluded it on a more positive note than how it began."
"While there remains much to improve, our riders performed better in today's dry and warmer weather."
Fabio began and finished his race remarkably, showing great skill in battling and passing other competitors.
"Alex matched Fabio's speed, indicating he also progressed positively today."
"It's unfortunate that he lacked something crucial at the end, preventing him from joining the fight."
"We are going to thoroughly examine today's information to get ready for the Thailand Grand Prix happening next week."
