Controversy Revs Up: Ducati’s Decision to Pick Marquez Sparks Tension and Heartbreak Among Loyalists
Choosing Marc Marquez would result in alienating “many individuals who hold Ducati dear to their hearts”
“This will create a highly charged atmosphere”
Paolo Campinoti has expressed disapproval of Ducati's decision to pick Marc Marquez for the 2025 season.
Next season, Marquez is set to join the main squad alongside Pecco Bagnaia.
Initially, Ducati appeared to have chosen Jorge Martin, but reversed their decision after Marquez made it clear he was unwilling to move to Pramac.
"Pramac chief Campinoti expressed his disagreement with a decision made in Borgo Panigale, according to Gazzetta."
It's clear that they're heading towards strife within their team next year; it's futile to deny the obvious.
Discussing this matter under a guise of insincere benevolence is futile: we are facing a highly strained scenario.
"They've made the choice to let go of many individuals who held Ducatis dear, including ourselves, Martin who in my opinion was worthy of an opportunity, and Enea Bastianini, all for the sake of one individual."
Ducati's decision to go with Marquez led to Martin securing a spot with Aprilia for the 2025
This implies that if he secures the MotoGP championship this season, he has the option to bring the #1 plate to a competing brand.
Bastianini, having relinquished his official Ducati position to Marquez, is set to team up with Tech3 KTM.
The Pramac satellite team is set to conclude its extended partnership with Ducati and will join forces with Yamaha in the upcoming season.
"Campinoti praised Ducati, describing their conduct towards us as flawless and gentleman-like, expressing that this came as no surprise to him."
