China’s Cybersecurity Group Calls for Review of Intel Products Over Security Breach Concerns
The Chinese cybersecurity team is calling for an examination of Intel products for potential security violations. The team stated that such an investigation would strengthen national security and protect the rights of consumers in China.
In a recent WeChat message, the China Cyber Security Association (CSAC) reported that Intel's main processing units (CPUs) have demonstrated several weaknesses in the past. They also pointed out that specific chip series from the company have led to video games malfunctioning.
These product vulnerabilities could potentially leave users vulnerable to cyber attacks through a concealed back-door mechanism in Intel's chips, as per the group's statement. They also criticized Intel for its sluggish response to prior breach complaints.
The CSAC has suggested a thorough examination of the cybersecurity aspects of Intel's products sold in mainland China. This is to efficiently protect China's national security and the rightful privileges and interests of Chinese consumers.
Intel's branch in China stated on Thursday that it diligently complies with the country's laws and regulations, and has consistently placed a high emphasis on the safety and quality of its products.
