Brembo’s Bold Move: Acquiring Öhlins Racing in $405 Million Deal to Revolutionize Motorsport

Brembo has reached a deal to acquire Ohlins Racing.

Brembo, an Italian firm known for its brakes, has announced its acquisition of Ohlins.

According to a statement released by Brembo, the company that produces brakes has signed a deal valued at $405 million (£310 million) to fully acquire Ohlins Racing.

According to a statement from Öhlins, the agreement signifies the merging of two legendary brands, promising outstanding performance, distinctive style, and a rich legacy of racing achievements across various arenas such as Formula One, MotoGP, NASCAR, and downhill mountain biking.

In the MotoGP World Championship, Ohlins and Brembo are prominent brands. Ohlins provides suspension systems to four out of the five manufacturers, which include Ducati, Aprilia, Honda, and Yamaha. Meanwhile, Brembo supplies braking components to all five manufacturers.

KTM is the only company that takes a different approach when it comes to suspension. The RC16's suspension is manufactured by WP, a company that KTM owns.

“Öhlins complements Brembo well,” stated Matteo Tiraboschi, the executive chairman of Brembo.

The brand is famous worldwide, known for its strong business foundation and exceptional reputation, both in racing and on the streets.

"We are thrilled to have Öhlins join our Group, seeing it as a fantastic chance to broaden our product range for the automotive industry. This move marks a significant advancement in our plan to deliver comprehensive, smart solutions to our clients by capitalizing on the combined strengths of essential vehicle technologies."

The CEO of Ohlins Racing, Tom Wittenschlaeger, expressed enthusiasm about partnering with Brembo. He mentioned that this collaboration would open up new avenues for growth, allowing both companies to utilize their strengths and resources to foster innovation and provide enhanced value to both their customers and employees.
