APCB Shifts Circuit Board Assembly to Mainland, Slashes 360 Jobs in Taiwan Amid Financial Struggles
APCB of Taiwan is planning to move its printed circuit board assembly to a branch on the mainland, resulting in job losses on the island. Starting from December 25, operations in Taiwan will stop, leading to the layoff of roughly 360 employees.
APCB's factories in Taiwan will halt operations starting December 25, after enduring three straight years of financial losses. The company attributes this to a struggling consumer electronics sector and escalating costs of raw materials, as revealed in their announcement to the Taiwan Stock Exchange on Tuesday.
During a media briefing held recently, Tsai Cheng-hung, the Chief Financial Officer of APCB, asserted that the firm will continue to employ a number of staff in their research and development as well as sales departments in Taiwan. Additionally, he stated that all client orders will be processed by their factory located in Kunshan, a city in the eastern region of Jiangsu province.
APCB's revamp of their production process will result in the termination of about 360 workers, with about 50 employees remaining on the island, as per a report from Taiwan's Central News Agency, quoting Tsai.
APCB's stock in Taiwan dropped nearly 10% on Wednesday.
