Alex Marquez Criticizes Inconsistent Steward Decisions: ‘Rules Aren’t Applied Equally for All’ in MotoGP
Alex Marquez expressed his disagreement with the stewards, stating that the regulations are not applied uniformly to all individuals. "This demonstrates that the rules are not enforced equally for everyone," he remarked.
Alex Marquez has strongly criticized the stewards for penalizing him after an incident involving Joan Mir during the Japanese MotoGP race.
The Gresini Ducati racer received a long lap penalty, which will be enforced during the upcoming Australian MotoGP event, due to a collision with Mir in Motegi.
On the opening lap, Marquez collided with the rear of Mir following a tumultuous beginning that caused him to fall significantly in the rankings.
The collision of their bikes caused them to become tangled, abruptly ending their races and leaving Mir extremely angry.
"I made an error at turn 11 that caused me to veer off course, and as I attempted to regain my position, I collided with Mir, resulting in the crash," Marquez commented.
"Our bicycles got entwined, and I said sorry to him for the incident."
"We must prepare ourselves to face Australia next."
"We're required to complete a long-lap penalty, although I don't think it's fair. Just a week ago, at turn 3, a similar incident occurred when another rider collided with me, and no action was taken then."
"This demonstrates that regulations are not enforced uniformly for everyone. However, we will take this as a learning opportunity and make the best of it."
Last week at Mandalika, Marc Marquez's race came to an early conclusion due to a crash involving four riders, initiated by Jack Miller.
Miller took the blame for an error that led to Marquez, Luca Marini, and Aleix Espargaro being knocked out.
However, Miller was not penalized by the stewards, who classified it as a racing incident.
Seven days have passed, and they remain unforgiving towards Marquez.
