Max Verstappen downplays concerns over Red Bull's 'tea-tray' tactic adjustments

Max Verstappen has expressed no concern over modifications made to Red Bull's Formula 1 vehicle.

Max Verstappen remains unfazed by the directive issued to Red Bull, requiring modifications to their Formula 1 vehicle in the wake of an FIA crackdown.

Before the upcoming Grand Prix in the United States, Red Bull announced that they have adjusted their vehicle after talks with the FIA, the organization that oversees Formula 1.

The discussions focused on a mechanism that competitors believed Red Bull might employ to alter the elevation of the car's front floor when in parc ferme conditions, an action prohibited by Formula 1 regulations.

Red Bull has consented to eliminate the mechanism commonly referred to as the 'bib' or 'tea-tray', which has been a major focal point leading up to the event in Austin.

"I don't have any concerns," Verstappen conveyed to Sky Sports F1.

"My aim is to enjoy myself and give my all. Each competition holds its significance, and of course, this particular event is crucial, and we aim to perform strongly."

"We'll assess how the enhancements impact the vehicle. Additionally, the track has undergone significant alterations with the tarmac, so we must adapt to that as well."

"Regarding the Tea-tray situation on my end, everything remains the same. So, everything is fine."

Current world title holder Verstappen is leading the championship by 52 points ahead of McLaren's Lando Norris, with six grand prix and three sprint races left in this season.

Norris charged Red Bull with a blatant violation regarding their contentious bib, and his teammate, Oscar Piastri, concurred that this equipment definitely contravenes F1 regulations.

"Clearly, we're stretching the limits of the technical rules," Piastri noted. "That's something everyone is doing, and it's precisely what defines F1 as F1.

"Based on the information and accounts I've received, this situation isn't merely stretching limits—it's definitively crossing them."

"I'm unaware of the specific vehicle it's associated with, or even if it's linked to one at all, despite the circulating rumors. However, if it is indeed being utilized, it's apparent that it hasn't been toeing the line of innovation. Instead, it's ventured from a zone of ambiguity straight into clear violation."
