Sergio Perez reflects on his toughest period in Formula 1
Sergio Perez evaluates his extremely tough year
Sergio Perez maintains that this season has been his toughest challenge in Formula 1.
The driver from Red Bull started the season aware that Daniel Ricciardo was considered a potential replacement for him.
Perez initially secured several top finishes, but he soon faced difficulties and couldn't master the RB20, which was revealed to be losing its competitive edge over time.
Initially, Max Verstappen managed to navigate through the issues with his car. However, as the F1 champion began to face difficulties, it put Perez's troubles into perspective.
"He described the year as complex in his conversation with DAZN."
"This season has been particularly challenging for me in terms of managing a car given the constraints I've faced, and not being able to communicate that has been tough, you know?"
"Since your team member is ahead, they are performing exceptionally, creating a progressively larger obstacle for you."
"The entire summer was challenging; I believe it was among the toughest periods I've faced in Formula 1."
When questioned about a particular period in his career he wishes he could eliminate, Perez responded, "Honestly, trying to dismiss the past half-year from my memory has been challenging."

Rumors were rampant about Perez being on the verge of losing his spot on the Red Bull racing team halfway through the year.
In the end, they decided to support him, and Liam Lawson took over RB's Ricciardo's position.
"Ultimately, the matter concerning the agreement turned out to be something that slipped people's minds," he mentioned.
"I entered into an agreement recently, and often there's chatter about additional concerns, yet I wasn't anxious because I'm aware of my position."
Perez showcased a promising performance in Azerbaijan, competing for a top-three finish until a regrettable collision with Carlos Sainz on the final lap.
His low scoring has played a significant role in McLaren surpassing Red Bull for the lead in the constructors' championship.
