Sergio Perez Dismisses Retirement Rumors with ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ Flair: Confirms 2025 Commitment Amid Red Bull Challenges
Sergio Perez confidently stated that he will definitely be present in 2025, referencing the ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ in his explanation. He clarified, "I wanted to ensure everyone understands that I am absolutely committed to being here next year. I have a contract in place and I intend to honor it."
Sergio Perez has shed light on his popular 'Wolf of Wall Street' reaction to the speculations about him possibly declaring his retirement from Formula 1 at the upcoming Mexico City Grand Prix.
Last month, seasoned Formula 1 reporter Joe Saward revealed that Perez is expected to declare his exit from the sport to his home supporters during the upcoming race in Mexico City.
Perez faces the challenge of retaining his position for the 2025 F1 season, even though he has a contract, as Red Bull considers Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda as potential candidates.
The Red Bull driver addressed the rumors surrounding his career by posting on X, the platform previously known as Twitter. He shared a well-known scene from the movie ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ featuring iconic actor Leonardo DiCaprio, in which the character declares, “I’m not leaving.”
Discussing his funny social media post while in Austin, Perez mentioned: "It's just that sometimes these rumors start circulating, and many people latch onto them, particularly with the Mexican Grand Prix approaching back home in Mexico."
"I wanted to ensure my fans weren't given incorrect information. To clarify, I am fully committed to being here next year. I have a contract, and I intend to honor it."
"My focus right now isn't on that. I'm concentrating on resolving the current problems we have with the car."
Perez is optimistic that Red Bull's new upgrade package for the upcoming weekend will help them narrow the gap with McLaren.
Similar to most of the teams competing, Red Bull plans to unveil major final modifications to their vehicles for the concluding six races of the season.
Red Bull faces another hurdle due to the FIA's restrictions on their ride height mechanism.
Discussing the upcoming improvements for the weekend, Perez remarked, "It's somewhat uncertain due to the wind tunnel. We appear to be facing a problem with the correlation, leaving us unsure."
"We haven't quantified it yet. Our focus is on altering the traits that have been challenging us for the past 18 months. Our aim is to regain our momentum. This track will be a great opportunity for us to test these changes. If we succeed and remain competitive, it could dramatically change the direction of our championship."
