Red Bull has had to modify their 2024 Formula 1 vehicle after talks with the FIA.
Before the upcoming United States Grand Prix, Autosport disclosed a possible manipulation of regulations regarding the car floor by one of the competing teams.
The report indicated that a team employed a strategy to adjust the ride height while under parc ferme regulations.
Speculation arose that the squad in focus possessed a mechanism within the cockpit capable of altering the floor's leading edge height from the qualifying rounds to the actual race.
Alterations during parc ferme conditions are strictly prohibited, as they could provide a team with a significant edge.
A day after, it was revealed by the BBC that the team involved was Red Bull.
A spokesperson for Red Bull acknowledged to BBC: "Indeed, [the device] is real, but it cannot be accessed once the vehicle is completely put together and prepared for operation.
"In the extensive communications we've had with the FIA, this issue arose and we've reached a consensus on a future plan."
On Wednesday, the FIA issued a firm response, declaring that any kind of device was "strictly forbidden."
According to Autosport, the FIA announced: "Modifying the front bib clearance while in parc ferme conditions is explicitly banned by the rules.
"Although there hasn't been any evidence of a team using this system, the FIA continues to be alert in our sustained efforts to improve the monitoring of the sport."
"In line with this, we have made changes to our procedures to guarantee that the clearance of the front bib cannot be readily altered."
"In certain situations, it might require placing a seal to offer additional confirmation of adherence."
Red Bull is optimistic that the modifications made to the RB20 won't negatively impact Max Verstappen's chances of winning the championship.
The driver from the Netherlands leads Lando Norris by 52 points with six races remaining.
