Mercedes Unveils Final 2024 F1 Upgrade at US Grand Prix: Aiming for a Strong Finish and 2025 Momentum

Significant Update for the US Grand Prix Marks Mercedes' Last Enhancement for F1 2024

This weekend's United States Grand Prix will see Mercedes introduce their final upgrade of the 2024 Formula 1 season.

Mercedes is poised to unveil its "last" enhancement for the 2024 F1 season during the United States Grand Prix this weekend.

Following George Russell's fourth-place finish and Lewis Hamilton's sixth-place finish in Singapore, Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff described the experience as "a truly difficult and distressing night." Now, the Silver Arrows are optimistic that a significant upgrade to their W15 will enhance their performance in future races.

Mercedes technical director James Allison previously referred to the forthcoming package, set to be unveiled at the Circuit of the Americas, as a "significant new wardrobe."

"This weekend kicks off a demanding stretch leading up to the year's conclusion. We have six races scheduled over the next eight weeks, culminating in the season's final event in Abu Dhabi," stated Wolff.

"Even though we aren't competing for the championships, there's still a lot at stake and chances to make some memorable moments. Our goal is to finish this year on a strong note, gain momentum for 2025, and give Lewis a great send-off."

"Since the Singapore event, we've been diligently evaluating our performance to identify areas for improvement. We're introducing our last set of updates for the season in Texas with the goal of narrowing the distance to the leaders. Additionally, this will offer valuable insights to steer our development strategy for 2025."

Mercedes claimed victory in three of the four races leading up to Formula 1's summer break. However, in the subsequent four races, they have only secured a single podium finish.

Wolff admitted that Mercedes must perform exceptionally well to fully capitalize on the upgrade package, especially considering the additional difficulty posed by Austin being a sprint weekend.

"This weekend sees the return of the Sprint format, and we'll need to perform at our highest level to successfully implement the update package," he stated.

The Circuit of the Americas is an amazing racing venue, but it surprised us in the previous season. The track's fast-paced design, along with its uneven surface, presents a tough test for both the vehicle and the driver. We are eagerly anticipating the challenge it offers.
