Lando Norris Reflects on ‘Shocking’ Lap and Struggles in Sprint Qualifying at US Grand Prix
Lando Norris expresses dismay over his "appalling" performance in sprint qualifying, stating, "In a sense, I'm content with fourth position, as things could have gone much more poorly, yet my lap was dreadful."
Lando Norris acknowledged that McLaren faced challenges with their speed, resulting in a fourth-place finish during the sprint qualifying at the United States Grand Prix.
Following his commanding victory in Singapore's recent race, Norris entered this weekend's event at the Circuit of the Americas as the strong frontrunner.

Norris was testing the latest upgrade from McLaren, featuring the new front wing exclusively on his vehicle.
Nonetheless, Norris had to accept a fourth-place position on the grid for the sprint race.
The McLaren racer had a disappointing day as his primary competitor for the F1 championship, Max Verstappen, secured the pole position.
Discussing the sprint qualifying, Norris commented on Friday, stating, "It wasn't a good day."
"Honestly, I've spent the entire day grappling with finding the right balance and configuration."
"In a sense, I'm content with finishing fourth, as it seemed like the outcome might have been much more unfavorable, yet my lap was astonishingly bad."
"Well, all things considered, it wasn't a bad day. It had its ups and downs, but overall, I'm okay with how it turned out."
Norris stated his intention for the upcoming sprint race is to advance positions.
"He expressed his desire to progress," he mentioned.
"That's what I've mapped out. However, regarding our progress, I believe we're exactly where we should be at this moment. Thus, my strategy is to move ahead, although I'm uncertain about the extent of our capabilities."
Before the sprint race begins, Norris trails Verstappen by 52 points, with six races remaining in the season.
Verstappen has the luxury of finishing in the runner-up position in all the upcoming races to clinch the championship.
McLaren's Oscar Piastri finished in 16th place after his last lap in the first qualifying session (Q1) was disqualified for exceeding track limits, causing him to veer off course.
