Jenson Button Casts Doubt on Red Bull’s F1 Title Hopes, Eyes Ferrari as the Dark Horse in Constructors’ Championship Race
Jenson Button plays down Red Bull's chances of clinching the F1 championship in 2024, suggesting Ferrari is more likely to outperform them.
2009 Formula One world champion Jenson Button has ruled out Red Bull's chances of clinching the constructors' championship this season.
Before the upcoming Grand Prix in the United States, Red Bull is lagging behind McLaren by 41 points in the team rankings.
Ferrari is nearer in competition to Red Bull than the current champions are to McLaren.
Scuderia trails by only 34 points with six races remaining, and considering Sergio Perez's recent struggles, Red Bull risks falling to third place in the standings.
The leading teams are anticipated to introduce substantial enhancement kits to the Circuit of the Americas as the season approaches its final phase.
Looking ahead to this weekend's constructors' competition, Button is of the opinion that Red Bull stands no chance in closing the 41-point deficit with McLaren, and instead, their concerns should be focused on Ferrari, who is trailing them.
Speaking to the Sky Sports F1 podcast, he said, "It's hard to recall when a team last clinched the drivers' championship but ended up third in the constructors' standings. I'm certain someone will correct me if I'm wrong."
"That's quite remarkable, isn't it? It highlights just how impressive Max's performance has been behind the wheel. At this point, I don't think Red Bull stands a chance against McLaren."
"I genuinely don't see a possibility of surpassing them in any competition until the season concludes, but I do envision Ferrari posing a challenge to Red Bull."
"It's unlikely they'll outscore in every race, but Ferrari has a real chance of surpassing Red Bull."
"Ferrari has a significantly higher probability of outperforming Red Bull compared to Red Bull's chances of surpassing McLaren."

Yet, the Grove team managed to clinch the fourth position in the team standings.
In recent years, the individual who clinched the drivers' championship often propelled their team to victory in the constructors' championship.
The most recent occurrence prior to this was in 2021, when Verstappen clinched the drivers' title and Mercedes secured the constructors' championship.
