Jack Miller Unfazed by Unpredictable Australian MotoGP Weather, Eyes Strong Finish with KTM
Unpredictable Weather at Australia MotoGP Doesn't Concern Miller: 'Less dry track time is advantageous'
"We usually have good speed right from the start"
KTM’s Jack Miller remains unfazed by the unpredictable weather predictions for this weekend's MotoGP Australian Grand Prix, stating that he prefers having less dry track time.
The racer, who has won four grand prix titles, is heading back to Phillip Island, his home track, in hopes of finishing his stint with KTM on a high note before transitioning to Yamaha with Pramac in 2025.
In 2019, Miller stood on the podium at Phillip Island in the MotoGP category. As he prepares to return home in 2024, he has faced challenging outcomes on the RC16, grappling with an ongoing chatter issue.
With unpredictable weather conditions expected to impact the events at Phillip Island on Friday and Saturday, Miller views this situation favorably. This year, he has often found it challenging to build on a strong beginning to race weekends.
He noted, "Over the years on this island, we've observed that this is one of those circuits where you can somewhat conceal minor problems."
"Hopefully, we can start the weekend on a strong note."
"The weather is expected to be uncertain through at least Friday and Saturday."
"The less time spent on a dry track, the better it is for me. It seems like we started off strong, but we've been having difficulties all season trying to improve since the first practice session."
"In my opinion, having minimal time on a dry track is beneficial since we usually have good speed right from the start."
"It's all about figuring out how to make small enhancements during the weekend."
KTM is counting on Pedro Acosta to deliver a strong performance in Australia. Acosta recently secured his first-ever MotoGP pole position in Japan and was a contender for victory in both races until he unfortunately crashed.
However, Miller also commended his teammate, Brad Binder, for effectively managing and overcoming the RC16's limitations in recent rides.
Miller praised Acosta, saying he has performed excellently.
"It's simple to overlook the fact that he is a newcomer, as his performance resembles that of an experienced professional."
"Clearly, spearheading our efforts is proving effective, and Brad is also excelling in securing outcomes."
"To be honest, I can't deny that I've faced my own challenges."
"I believe the guys are doing an excellent job navigating the challenges and still managing to perform well on both Saturday afternoon and Sunday."
