Haas Targets Midfield Dominance with Major Upgrade and Special Livery at US GP in P6 Pursuit
Haas introduces significant update and unique paint scheme at US Grand Prix in pursuit of sixth position
Haas aims for a major enhancement to surpass midfield competitors RB for the sixth spot in the F1 team standings.
Haas is set to introduce a major update towards the end of the 2024 Formula 1 season, aiming to secure the sixth position in the constructors' standings.
The updated kit, including changes to the floor and bodywork, will make its first appearance on the VF-24 during the upcoming United States Grand Prix. This has been highlighted as the primary upgrade for the team as the season draws to a close.
Haas plans to introduce a unique paint scheme for their local race at the Circuit of the Americas, featuring the emblems of their new technical collaborator, Toyata.
"In Austin, we're introducing our key upgrade for the season's last segment, focusing primarily on advancing the floor and bodywork," Haas technical director Andrea De Zordo detailed.
"Our objective remains focused on enhancing aerodynamic efficiency to speed up the vehicle. Achieving significant reductions in lap times presents a challenge, thus we're dealing with marginal gains. However, in the highly competitive midfield battle, every minor improvement is crucial, and we aim to achieve just that."
"This represents an advancement and continued progression of our offering, rather than a novel introduction, despite the car appearing somewhat altered."
Haas currently occupies the seventh position in the constructors' championship rankings, trailing RB by a mere three points, with six grand prix events and three sprint races left in the season.
Securing points in three straight races has enabled the team from the United States to narrow their deficit to Red Bull's secondary squad as they enter the concluding phase of the season.
"De Zordo mentioned, 'Even though we didn't earn any points last year, it was still a solid performance for us, and I anticipate another strong race for us this time around.'"
"We're contending for sixth place, which is genuinely exciting. It's crucial that we give our all to reach that goal, as it would be a fantastic reward for everyone in this team who has invested considerable effort into making this season fruitful."
