From Silver Arrows to Prancing Horse: Lewis Hamilton’s Pursuit of Ferrari Glory and the Vatican’s Blessing

According to Guenther Steiner, if Lewis Hamilton manages to secure a Formula 1 championship for Ferrari, marking their first since 2008, he might just find himself in the Vatican.

Ex-Haas team principal Guenther Steiner humorously remarked that if Lewis Hamilton succeeds in bringing Ferrari back to winning the Formula 1 championship, he might find himself in the Vatican.

The seven-time world champion is set to make a sensational move from Mercedes to Formula 1's most renowned team next season, where he will team up with Charles Leclerc.

Hamilton has teamed up with Ferrari with the goal of securing an unprecedented eighth world championship, a victory that would elevate him past the legendary Michael Schumacher, who claimed five straight world titles with the iconic team.

Ferrari has experienced a 16-year drought without securing a championship trophy. The team's last victory in the constructors' championship was in 2008, and Kimi Raikkonen was the most recent driver to clinch a world championship for Ferrari back in 2007.

Steiner mentioned on the Beyond the Grid podcast that he believes the individual is motivated by a desire to work some magic to help Ferrari start winning championships again.

"I haven't discussed it with him, but I can tell that his intention was to go there and attempt to retrieve it."

"I’m already considered one of the greatest of all time since I’ve won seven championships. What else is there for me to achieve? At Mercedes, if we perform well, there’s a possibility I can secure an eighth title."

"If I secure my eighth victory or a championship while driving for Ferrari, I might just find myself celebrated at the Vatican!"

Steiner expressed that he comprehends why Ferrari appeals to Hamilton, who will be turning 40 at the time he first wears the iconic red uniform.

Steiner expressed that Ferrari is essential to Formula 1, and similarly, Formula 1 is incomplete without Ferrari.

"It seems that there's a certain enchantment associated with the Prancing Horse brand. Being a driver for them is a special opportunity, and he is in a favorable spot since he has a close relationship with Fred Vasseur."

The two individuals are familiar with one another, having achieved numerous victories in junior racing categories, with Lewis and Fred being part of the same team.

"They share a strong bond and often collaborate on projects. If they succeed, it would likely be an exciting achievement for both."

Steiner also expressed his support for Leclerc to gain knowledge from Hamilton's extensive experience.

He mentioned that one thing Charles could take away from Lewis is that Lewis seldom errs.

"He's an exceptionally well-rounded driver, known for his strategic mindset. He's experienced a lot throughout his career, both on and off the track. His ability to manage his racing commitments while also engaging in various other activities makes you wonder how he manages to juggle it all so effectively."

"However, he's simply well-prepared, and over the years, he's acquired the knowledge. If Charles is smart, he'll observe this and think, 'I can achieve this kind of success too.'"

In terms of driving skills, I believe Charles has the ability to surprise us. When it comes to driving, he's on par with Lewis. However, Lewis is a more well-rounded race car driver. He possesses speed, but his overall capabilities make him more complete.

"Charles lacks experience due to his youth, while Lewis possesses it, providing an opportunity for Charles to learn from him."
