Yamaha’s New Chassis Set to Boost Rossi and Lorenzo at Assen MotoGP
Rossi and Lorenzo to Receive New Frame for Assen
Yamaha has announced that Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo will have access to a new chassis for the upcoming MotoGP event at Assen.
Following an encouraging initial experience with the frame during the official post-race test in Catalunya, the Movistar Yamaha riders came back for an additional day of private testing on Tuesday.
Team director Massimo Meregalli stated that the primary objective for tomorrow is to determine which chassis performs better. If they find that the new frame is superior, it could be prepared in time for the next event in Assen.
Although no formal details were disclosed after the private test, a team representative informed Crash.net that both riders will have access to the new chassis at Assen.
Lorenzo trails Honda's Marc Marquez by ten points in the championship rankings, while Catalunya victor Rossi has narrowed the gap to the leader to 22 points.
