Yamaha Signs MotoGP Star Miguel Oliveira for Pramac Project in 2025
Yamaha has officially announced that Miguel Oliveira will join Pramac for the MotoGP 2025 season.
Yamaha has announced that Miguel Oliveira will be part of its new Pramac satellite team for the 2025 and 2026 MotoGP seasons.
The Portuguese rider has finalized a contract directly with Yamaha and will compete on a factory-spec M1, similar to the ones used by Monster Yamaha team members Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins.
Yamaha Racing's managing director, Lin Jarvis, expressed excitement over the addition of skilled and seasoned rider Miguel Oliveira to the Yamaha team for the 2025-26 season, extending a heartfelt welcome to him as part of the Yamaha MotoGP Project.
Miguel possesses the expertise, experience, speed, and accuracy required to enhance the Yamaha YZR-M1's performance. We eagerly anticipate collaborating with him as an essential part of the Yamaha MotoGP team, and he will have our complete backing.
Miguel Oliveira, who has won five MotoGP races for KTM, has been competing for the RNF/Trackhouse Aprilia team since last year. His top achievements with the team include a fourth-place finish in a Grand Prix and a second-place finish in a Sprint race.
"I feel incredibly honored to represent a legendary name like Yamaha in our sport," Oliveira stated. "Throughout my journey and advancement to MotoGP, I've always admired the blue motorcycles with great excitement."
The dream has come true, and I extend my gratitude to Yamaha Motor Company for their dedication during this crucial transition phase of the project. Mr. Lin Jarvis played a pivotal role in initiating talks and turning this vision into reality. I am confident that I can contribute effectively during this period to help elevate the bike to its former glory.
I would like to express my gratitude to Mr. Campinoti, Gino Borsoi, and the entire Pramac team for joining me on this path. I am thrilled and eager to begin this new phase.
Jack Miller is expected to join Oliveira as his team-mate, finalizing the lineup for the 2025 season.
Pramac, which is currently at the top of the world championship standings with Jorge Martin, is concluding its two-decade-long partnership with Ducati and will begin a new chapter with Yamaha.
Pramac's leader, Paolo Campinoti, expressed his delight in welcoming Miguel Oliveira to their team. Campinoti highlighted that Oliveira's extensive experience in the sport will be a great fit for their team and the upcoming project they are starting with Yamaha's full backing. He also extended his best wishes to Oliveira for the latter half of the season and mentioned their anticipation of seeing him in early 2025.
Gino Borsoi, the team manager, expressed his delight in welcoming Miguel Oliveira, a racer he has been familiar with since the start of his career. Borsoi highlighted Oliveira's extensive experience with various MotoGP manufacturers as a major asset, which will be essential for advancing the project they have designed with Yamaha.
