Yamaha Boosts Rossi and Lorenzo’s Title Hopes with New Chassis for Assen MotoGP
Yamaha announces upgraded chassis for Rossi, Lorenzo at Assen
Yamaha has announced that Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo will have access to an upgraded chassis for the upcoming MotoGP event in Assen.
Following an initial favorable response to the frame during the official Catalunya post-race test, the Movistar Yamaha team came back for an additional day of exclusive testing on Tuesday.
"The primary objective [for tomorrow] is to determine the superior chassis. Should we determine the new structure is preferable, we could potentially have it prepared for the upcoming race in Assen," explained team director Massimo Meregalli.
Following the confidential trial, a spokesperson for the team confirmed to Crash.net, saying, "Indeed, the latest frame design will be accessible to both competitors in Assen."
Lorenzo currently trails Honda's Marc Marquez by ten points in the championship rankings, while Rossi, who triumphed in Catalunya, is now just 22 points away from the lead.
