Xi Jinping Reaffirms China’s Claim Over Taiwan, Extends Support to Hong Kong and Macau in National Day Address
In a speech celebrating National Day, Chinese President Xi Jinping issued a warning to advocates of Taiwan's independence, emphasizing his support for Hong Kong and Macau. He reiterated that Taiwan is considered a hallowed part of China's national territory.
During a formal ceremony in Beijing commemorating the 75th anniversary of the People's Republic on Tuesday, Xi stated that Taiwan is "China's sacred land" and emphasized that "the people across the Taiwan Strait share a blood bond."
"He emphasized the need to foster spiritual unity among people on both sides of the strait and to firmly reject any separatist activities aimed at 'Taiwan independence,'" he stated.
