Xi Jinping Reaffirms China’s Claim on Taiwan, Pledges Support for Hong Kong and Macau in National Day Address

In a speech commemorating National Day, Chinese President Xi Jinping issued a warning to "Taiwan separatists" and emphasized his backing for Hong Kong and Macau. He declared that Taiwan is considered the nation’s "sacred territory."

During a formal ceremony in Beijing commemorating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the People's Republic on Tuesday, Xi declared that Taiwan is "China's sacred land" and emphasized that "the people across the Taiwan Strait share a blood bond."

"We need to foster spiritual unity among our fellow countrymen across the strait and firmly stand against the separatist activities advocating 'Taiwan independence,'" he stated.
