Chinese President Xi Jinping cautions against Taiwan separatism and reaffirms backing for Hong Kong and Macau. During a speech on National Day, the Chinese leader emphasized that the island represents the nation's 'sacred territory.'
During a formal event in Beijing commemorating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the People's Republic, Xi declared that Taiwan is "China's hallowed land" and emphasized that "the individuals on both sides of the [Taiwan] Strait share a blood bond."
"He emphasized the need to foster spiritual unity among nationals across the strait and firmly reject any separatist activities aimed at Taiwan independence," he stated.
