During an official ceremony in Beijing commemorating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic, Xi declared Taiwan to be "China's sacred land" and emphasized that "the people across the Taiwan Strait share a blood connection."
He emphasized the need to "foster the spiritual unity of people on both sides of the strait and firmly reject separatist movements advocating for 'Taiwan independence.'"
