Vasseur Open to Sainz’s Ferrari Return Amid Team Shakeup: A Future Reunion on the Horizon?
Fred Vasseur expresses willingness to collaborate with Carlos Sainz in the future, despite parting ways with Ferrari
Ferrari's Formula 1 leader, Fred Vasseur, mentioned he is open to bringing Carlos Sainz back to his squad in the coming years.
Ferrari Formula 1 team lead Fred Vasseur has not ruled out the possibility of collaborating once more with departing racer Carlos Sainz down the line.
Sainz will depart from Ferrari when the current season concludes, paving the path for seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton to join the team. Starting next season, Hamilton will team up with Charles Leclerc at the prestigious Italian team.
The individual from Spain has recently signed with Williams for the year 2025 and onwards. However, Vasseur mentions he would think about bringing the highly skilled Sainz back to his team sometime down the line.
"Vasseur expressed profound admiration for Carlos, acknowledging his significant contributions to the team, especially over the last two years under his leadership as team boss."
"I have a clear memory of his accomplishments from the previous year, especially during challenging times. He managed to rally the team to secure the pole position at Monza and achieve a victory in Singapore. This likely served as a catalyst for Charles to step up his game, resulting in him securing several front-row starts consecutively."
"He played a significant role in the team's revival last year, and he's performing exceptionally well this season. I'm fully aware that the start of the season presented challenges, but his professionalism is outstanding."
"During a conversation we had last winter, we collectively decided to give our best effort until the very end of the season, and he's performing admirably."
In response to inquiries about the possibility of collaborating with Sainz once more, Vasseur confirmed, stating, "Absolutely, without a doubt."
"I'm extremely happy to include Carlos on our team, and I plan to maintain an excellent rapport with him."
Sainz has not dismissed the possibility of rejoining Ferrari, a team he has competed with since 2021, in future seasons.
"Sainz conveyed to The Athletic that his decision to depart at the year's end doesn't stem from any issues between him and Ferrari."
A seven-time world champion expressed a desire to join Ferrari towards the end of his career, leading me to step down and make room for Lewis. I harbor no resentment about this situation.
"I likely have around five to ten more years left in my career. Therefore, it doesn't make sense for me to rule out the possibility of making a comeback."
