Unyielding Spirit: Marc Marquez Eyes 2024 MotoGP Title After Thrilling Triple Victory
"Most Courageous Rider": Marc Marquez's Crew Chief Open to MotoGP Title Pursuit
Frankie Carchedi, the crew chief for Marc Marquez, remains open to the possibility of a dramatic bid for the 2024 MotoGP championship following Marquez's third victory in just two rounds.
Marc Marquez's team leader, Frankie Carchedi, did not dismiss the possibility of a strong push for the 2024 MotoGP World Championship title after Marquez secured his third win in just over a week at Misano.
The six-time MotoGP World Champion, Marc Marquez, continued his impressive performance by securing an unexpected victory at the San Marino MotoGP, merely a week after his remarkable double triumph at Aragon. Marquez's skillful maneuvering in tricky weather enabled him to surpass the more conservative Pecco Bagnaia and clinch the win.
With just seven rounds left in the season, Marquez's performance has earned him a considerable amount of points, significantly narrowing the gap in the standings between him and current leader Jorge Martin.
As the gap narrowed to 53 points, Carchedi told TNT Sports that while Gresini Racing still has some 'fine details sorted' to address, he isn't dismissing the possibility of contending for the title in the remaining events.
"I'm not merely saying this… Aragon, we had an impeccable weekend right from the start. Secured the pole position in qualifying, and everything went flawlessly."
“In this situation, we weren’t flawless. It’s about collaborating with a rider you know well. The more you collaborate, the better you understand each other. However, there are still some finer points we need to address.”
"Our performance in qualifying really hurt us this weekend. We had a strong pace. During the race, he managed to clock a few 31.5s to pull ahead of Pecco. The main issue lies in perfecting those small details."
“He put in a tremendous effort over the weekend. I was genuinely concerned that we had missed our chance during the qualifying rounds, as the starting position here significantly impacts the outcome of the race.
"Winning and losing are both part of the game. The wet conditions certainly played a role in pushing him to the lead, but he was already well-positioned as the race progressed and the field began to spread out. He likely would have remained competitive regardless."
