Turmoil at Red Bull: Schumacher Predicts More Changes Amidst F1 Struggles
Red Bull receives a caution that "further dismissals are imminent" as "tensions" escalate.
"The atmosphere of doubt means that further changes are expected due to this dissatisfaction."
Former Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher has cautioned that significant changes are imminent at Red Bull because of the increasing pressure they face during their current slump.
McLaren is closing in on Red Bull in the F1 constructors' championship, trailing by just eight points after the Italian Grand Prix, putting Red Bull's lead in jeopardy.
Alarmingly, Red Bull appears to lack a definitive solution for their recent string of disappointing results in races.
At Monza, it was evident that they ranked as the fourth quickest team, with Max Verstappen securing just the sixth position.
In a conversation with Sky Germany, Schumacher shared a pessimistic outlook on Red Bull.
"Truthfully, this situation is no longer viable. In my view, Red Bull is off the table at the moment," Schumacher stated. "The lack of clarity is causing turmoil, and as a result of this dissatisfaction, more changes are anticipated."
"Following this, the initial step involves reconstructing with both new and existing members. Naturally, they'll face immense challenges from various quarters. This will trigger a series of events, all of which are currently unfolding, especially given the rapid pace at which F1 progresses."
"It's uncommon to witness a team's performance decline so significantly over a season. I'm hard-pressed to find another instance like this."
"Shortly, we'll be heading to tracks that favor higher downforce, which appears to advantage Red Bull more. However, we'll continue to face this issue there as well."
Lando Norris managed to secure a third-place finish at Monza, closing the gap on Verstappen's lead to 62 points.
With eight races remaining, Norris is firmly in the race for this year's driver's championship, especially if Red Bull's challenges persist.
The racer who has clinched the F1 title six times views Norris as the top contender for the championship.
"He confirmed, adding, “Indeed, McLaren is the frontrunner for the constructors' championship, but the battle for third place will also be thrilling. On their best weekends, Mercedes and Ferrari are strong contenders, poised to snatch points from Red Bull.
Currently, Verstappen holds a significant lead over the runner-up, and it's important to note a key factor: the greater the pressure, the higher the likelihood of errors. There were slip-ups during the pit stop, notably a delayed change of the rear right tire at Monza, prompting Verstappen to alert his team with a cautionary message, essentially saying, "Pay attention, something’s not right!"
