Tragic Start to School Year: Bus Crash in Eastern China Kills 11, Including Students and Parents
Five children and six adults lost their lives in eastern China when a bus plowed into a crowd outside a school. The incident, which also left many injured, occurred shortly after national media highlighted new safety protocols for protecting students. The driver of the bus has been taken into custody by the police.
On Tuesday morning in eastern China, a bus collision in front of a junior high school resulted in 11 fatalities and left 24 others injured as it plowed into a group of people.
State-run CCTV reported that the accident happened at about 7 a.m. at the entrance of Foshan Junior High School in Dongping County, Shandong Province, on the second day of the school year.
According to the report, the injured were transported to the hospital.
According to Dongping police, the tragic incident resulted in the deaths of six parents and five students. Additionally, one individual was critically injured, while twelve others are reported to be in stable condition. The status of the remaining victims has not been disclosed.
According to the police, the vehicle involved was a school bus transporting students. It lost control as it neared an intersection and collided with a group of people. Authorities have since detained the driver, and an investigation into the incident is currently underway.
