Tragic Start to School Year: 11 Dead as Bus Plows into Crowd in Eastern China
Five children and six adults have perished in eastern China when a bus plowed into a group of people outside a school. Following the incident, which resulted in 11 fatalities and numerous injuries, the bus driver has been taken into custody by the authorities. This tragic event occurred shortly after national media reported on new initiatives aimed at enhancing student safety.
On Tuesday morning, a bus plowed into a group of people outside a middle school in eastern China, resulting in 11 fatalities and 24 injuries.
State-run CCTV reported that the accident took place at about 7 a.m. outside Foshan Junior High School in Dongping County, Shandong Province, on the second day of the school year.
According to the report, the injured were transported to the hospital.
According to Dongping police, among the deceased were six parents and five students. Additionally, one individual sustained severe injuries, while twelve others are in stable condition. The status of the remaining victims has not been disclosed.
Authorities reported that the vehicle involved was a school bus assigned to transport students. It veered off course at an intersection and collided with a group of people. The driver is currently in police custody, and the incident is under investigation.
