Tragedy Strikes Eastern China: School Bus Crash Kills 11, Local Community Rallies with Blood Drive at Movie Theatre
Five children and six adults have died in eastern China, with the bus driver now in custody following a collision with a school gathering. In response, a nearby cinema is facilitating blood donation drives, supporting the many injured, prompted by a widespread appeal on social media.
On Tuesday morning in Eastern China, a bus plowed into a group of people outside a middle school, resulting in 11 fatalities and 24 injuries.
As reported by the state-run CCTV, the accident took place near the Foshan Junior High School in Dongping county, Shandong province, at about 7am on the second day of the academic year.
According to the report, the injured were transported to the hospital.
According to Dongping police, the tragic incident resulted in the deaths of six parents and five students. Additionally, one individual suffered severe injuries, while 12 others are reported to be in stable condition. The status of the remaining victims has not been disclosed.
Authorities reported that the transport involved was a school bus assigned to shuttle students. The incident occurred as the bus neared an intersection, where it veered off course and collided with a group of people. Law enforcement has since taken the driver into custody, and an investigation into the event is underway.
