Tragedy Strikes Eastern China: 11 Killed as Bus Plows into School Crowd, Driver Detained Amid Safety Scrutiny
Five children and six adults lost their lives in eastern China when a bus plowed into a group of people outside a school. Following the incident, which also left many injured, the bus driver was taken into custody by the police. This tragic event occurred shortly after national media highlighted new safety protocols aimed at protecting students.
On Tuesday morning, a bus collided with a group of people outside a middle school in eastern China, resulting in 11 fatalities and 24 injuries.
State television CCTV reported that the accident took place at approximately 7 a.m. outside the Foshan Junior High School in Dongping County, Shandong Province, on the second day back at school.
According to the report, the injured were transported to the hospital.
According to Dongping police, the tragic incident resulted in the deaths of six parents and five students. Additionally, one individual sustained severe injuries, while 12 others are currently stable. The status of the remaining victims has not been disclosed.
Authorities reported that the vehicle involved was a school bus transporting students. It veered off course and collided with a group of people as it neared an intersection. Police have taken the driver into custody and are currently conducting an investigation into the incident.
