Tragedy Strikes at School Gates: 11 Dead as Bus Plows into Crowd in Eastern China
Five children and six adults have died in eastern China when a bus struck a group of people outside a school. The incident also left multiple individuals injured. Following the tragic event, the bus driver was taken into custody by authorities. This crash occurred shortly after national outlets had reported on new initiatives aimed at enhancing student safety.
On Tuesday morning, a bus plowed into a group of people outside a middle school in eastern China, resulting in the deaths of 11 individuals and injuries to 24 others.
State television CCTV reported that the accident happened at approximately 7 a.m. in front of Foshan Junior High School in Dongping County, Shandong Province, on the second day of the school year.
According to the report, the injured were transported to the hospital.
According to the Dongping police, the tragic incident resulted in the death of six parents and five students. Additionally, one individual sustained severe injuries, while 12 others are reported to be in stable condition. The status of the remaining victims has not been disclosed.
Authorities stated that the vehicle involved was a school bus tasked with transporting students. It reportedly lost control near an intersection and collided with a group of people. The bus driver has been taken into custody and an investigation into the incident is underway.
