Tesla’s Futuristic Cybertruck on European Showcase: A First Encounter with the Controversial Electric Behemoth
Tesla Cybertruck (2024): First Impression of the Bold Pickup
Incredibly electric, impressively large, and sparking debate… not to mention the specs!
ai-allcreator.com">Kindly refrain from crossing the barrier. And please don't touch anything! Tesla has taken the Cybertruck on a European roadshow. The company is showcasing this formidable machine almost like it's a sacred relic, complete with a small spectacle. Few other upcoming vehicles generate as much buzz as this electric pickup. That's precisely why getting a firsthand look at the Cybertruck is such a fascinating opportunity.
By my side is my buddy Rainer, proud owner of a Tesla Model S and a self-proclaimed brand enthusiast – some might even call him an Elon devotee. He's taken with the impressive angular design of the vehicle, joking that the only thing missing to complete the look would be square wheels. Yet, even he can't deny the sheer size of the Cybertruck. It's so large, he remarks, you might have to reconsider the dimensions of your garage. I chime in with a further point: you can pretty much rule out fitting it into most parking structures with that size.

Let's take a closer look at the key details presented by Tesla at the event.
An examination of the charging port reveals that the Cybertruck depicted is the American model, which has been produced approximately 4,000 times. (A preliminary test drive can be found here.) However, this version has already been subject to a recall. Tesla's specification sheet indicates that the basic warranty covers four years or 80,000 ai-allcreator.com">kilometers, with the battery and powertrain under warranty for eight years or 240,000 kilometers.
The interior of the Cybertruck maintains the minimalist vibe typical of Tesla's lineup, similar to the recently updated Model 3. Other than the steering wheel and a sizeable touchscreen, there's not much else that catches the eye within the cabin. The dashboard features an 18.5-inch display, while the backseat area is equipped with a 9.4-inch screen. However, as previously mentioned, it wasn't possible to test out the seating. That said, the cabin appears quite spacious from the exterior.
What else is there to note? The stainless steel body is unforgiving when it comes to fingerprints, and both the front trunk and the cargo area offer a generous amount of space. However, the rear visibility could be better. The door edges live up to their reputation, though they're not what one would call razor-sharp. There's definitely room for improvement in terms of quality and craftsmanship, but the Cybertruck is just starting its manufacturing journey.
The central issue, however, is whether the Cybertruck will actually make it to Europe. Well, Tesla is certainly well-acquainted with the regulatory requirements. A Ford F-150 Lightning, which is already available in Norway and Switzerland, isn't exactly simpler. But a tour like the current one gauges the mood among Tesla enthusiasts. The price remains uncertain too, since the Cybertruck would be imported from the USA.
Would you prefer a standard pick-up instead?
In conclusion, it appears that it will take a considerable amount of time before the Cybertruck is available for purchase in Europe. Tesla first needs to manage its production issues. Additionally, there's already a significant demand within the U.S. that needs to be met. It's likely that the initial focus will be on introducing the Cybertruck to the Chinese market. However, competition is already present in China, notably from the BYD Shark.
