Taiwan Accuses Eight Mainland Chinese Firms of Talent Poaching and Trade Secret Theft in Escalating Chip War
Conflict over chips: Taiwan charges 8 Chinese mainland companies with luring talent and pilfering trade secrets
Among the accused companies is Naura Technology Group, a major service provider to some of the biggest chip manufacturers in mainland China.
The Investigation Bureau of Taiwan's Ministry of Justice announced on its website this Wednesday that it had conducted searches at 30 sites and interrogated 65 people across four cities, including Taipei and Hsinchu. The bureau discovered that eight firms from mainland China were allegedly involved in headhunting and theft of confidential business information in Taiwan, a situation that could potentially undermine the competitiveness of Taiwan’s high-tech sector.
The names of the eight companies were Naura, iCommsemi, Shanghai New Vision Microelectronics, Nanjing Aviacomm Semiconductor, Emotibot, Tongfang, Chengdu Analog Circuit Technology, and Hestia Power.
Naura refuted allegations of local worker poaching in a communication to the Post on Wednesday. They asserted that their Taiwan branch was set up and functions in compliance with the region's laws and rules.
