The SNP claimed that ITV excluded them from the discussion because Sir Keir and Mr. Sunak "declined to engage in debate with the SNP."
SNP Westminster leader Stephen Flynn criticized the absence of Scottish politicians in the debate as "disgraceful," indicating that it reflects the fear of scrutiny by the Tory and Labour leaders.
The discussion marks the beginning of multiple confrontations scheduled to be hosted by different television networks.

Sky News is organizing a special event featuring political leaders in the crucial electoral district of Grimsby and Cleethorpes, a location where our team has consistently covered the challenges encountered by the community.
Citizens will have the chance to pose questions directly to those in leadership positions.
Labour chief Sir Keir has confirmed his attendance, while discussions continue with Mr. Sunak's representatives.
A representative for the Conservatives stated: "Rishi Sunak is very pleased to go to Grimsby to participate in the Sky News leaders' event and respond to inquiries from the electorate, provided that he and Keir Starmer can appear together on stage to address those questions.
"This will provide the audience with the optimal chance to discern the distinct options the nation confronts in this election."
TV debates among political leaders have been a key element of American political campaigns since the 1950s, yet it wasn't until the UK's 2010 general election that such debates made their debut across the pond, featuring Gordon Brown, David Cameron, and Nick Clegg in a series of three debates.

Since their inception, these debates have become integral to general election campaigns. Theresa May, in 2017, was the only leader to opt out since 2010, a choice she later admitted to regretting in an interview with Sky News.
The choice to conduct the debate in Grimsby follows the electoral district's shift to the Conservative party in 2019, marking the first time it has done so since World War II ended.
At that period, numerous individuals experienced a disconnect from the cultural values of the Labour Party.

Grimsby has merged with Cleethorpes, an area governed by the Conservatives since 2010, though their popularity is declining.
Since its establishment in 1997, Cleethorpes has consistently served as a reliable indicator, supporting the majority party in Westminster in each of the seven elections held to date.
The district is made up of a traditionally conservative rural electorate, alongside city dwellers who, in the past few elections, have supported the Conservative pledges to promote regional equality and to follow through with Brexit.
The diverse makeup of this newly formed district suggests it will be a crucial contested area.
