Sir Keir Starmer has assured Sky News that a Labour government would not conduct any deportation flights to Rwanda.

In a discussion with Sky News political editor Beth Rigby, the Labour leader stated that there would be "no flights" if he had his way, expressing his intent to abolish the policy designed to deport asylum seekers who arrive in the UK illegally from safe countries like France to Rwanda.

Earlier today, Sir Keir affirmed that Labour intends to scrap the Conservatives' key program aimed at curbing illegal immigration. However, a spokesperson for the party stated that they would not halt flights that are already scheduled.

Latest Update: Starmer Unveils Strategy for Tackling Small Boat

Sir Keir informed Sky News, "There will be no flights. I intend to abolish the program, which means the flights will be canceled."

If Labour emerges victorious in the upcoming general election, all flights scheduled for departure thereafter will be canceled.

"There are no flights, the Rwanda plan is just a costly trick that won't be effective."

Earlier, Sir Keir revealed his strategy to address the issue of small boat crossings. His approach includes the establishment of a new Border Security Command staffed with "hundreds of specialist investigators," the introduction of enhanced counter-terrorism measures aimed at combating people smuggling, aspirations for a fresh partnership with Europol, and the implementation of a rules-based asylum system.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak labeled Sir Keir's proposal as "sheer hypocrisy," stating that the initiatives the Labour leader revealed are already being implemented by his administration.

"He noted that the effort to tackle the backlog and increase law enforcement activity is already underway."

Over a year ago, we made those announcements. If Keir Starmer is truly concerned about this issue, why did he oppose the recent legislation that was enacted to provide our law enforcement officers with additional powers?

Authorities have employed these measures to detain nearly 8,000 individuals linked to unlawful migration, collectively sentencing them to several centuries of incarceration.

"He believes if it were his decision, all those individuals would be roaming our streets, which I see as a clear contradiction in his stance."

Sir Keir unveiled Labour's strategy during a speech in Dover, accompanied by his latest MP, Natalie Elphicke, who recently switched allegiance from the Conservatives.

The decision of her to switch parties has sparked anger among some Labour MPs, who perceived her as a right-leaning member of the Conservative Party, particularly because of her stance on immigration.

She has also been criticized for backing her former husband, ex-Dover MP Charlie Elphicke, following his conviction for sexually assaulting two women. She has since issued an apology for her support of him.

Sir Keir stated that welcoming Mrs. Elphicke into the party demonstrates its transformation and highlights that the Conservatives are "no longer the party capable of advancing our nation."

When questioned about being ruthless, he responded, "Indeed, I am ruthless when it comes to guaranteeing a Labour government that can transform this nation for the better."

"I am not driven by personal ambition, nor am I specifically ruthless on behalf of the Labour Party.

"I am uncompromising for the sake of the nation."

He emphasized that the sole method to effect change in the UK is by being "relentlessly focused on winning the general election and establishing a government dedicated to public service."

"I show no mercy."

During our journey to Dover last Friday, where he presented his strategy to halt the influx of small boats, Sir Keir Starmer explained his reasoning for admitting Natalie Elphicke into the Labour Party. Despite the turmoil her induction created this week, Sir Keir believed it was a justified move.

He seized the opportunity to confront the issue of migration head-on in Dover, alongside the current Labour MP, Ms. Elphicke. He declared to the media that Mr. Sunak had "not managed to secure the borders" and "is not reliable."

This act of political drama was merciless, particularly in its timing—coinciding with the day the UK emerged from a recession.

Rishi Sunak aimed for the TV news headlines to focus on the narrative of overcoming economic challenges and remaining committed to the strategy.

He received something different.

According to a recent survey by Survation released on May 9, the Labour Party is projected to secure a decisive win in the upcoming general election, capturing 486 seats, which constitutes 45% of the total votes. The Conservative Party trails significantly, lagging by 19 percentage points at 26%.

Based on the latest average figures from key polling organizations, the Labour Party is predicted to come out ahead with 43.5% of the total votes, followed by the Conservatives at 23.5%, and the Liberal Democrats at 9.7%.

Sir Keir expressed uncertainty about securing a majority, but he remains hopeful.

In May 2023, he dismissed the possibility of forming an alliance with the SNP in the event he didn't secure a majority, but left open the option of collaborating with the Liberal Democrats.

On Friday, he stated, "I am dismissing the possibility of any agreement with the SNP, either before or after the election."

"Is my goal to achieve a majority for the Labour government? Absolutely, it is."

"It hinges on our ability to gain the trust and confidence of voters nationwide."

Pressed about a potential agreement with the Liberal Democrats, he once again did not dismiss the possibility, stating, "I'm aiming for a majority."

"That response has remained unchanged from what I provided you with one to two years ago."
