Smart #5 (2024) Enthüllt: Der Gigant unter den Smarts – Raumwunder trifft auf Elektro-Dynamik
The Smart #5, set to release in 2024, is redefining the brand with its impressive size. As the most expansive model to date, this vehicle marks a significant shift for the traditionally compact car maker, now under the umbrella of China's Geely group. Positioned firmly within the D-segment category, the Smart #5 boasts a design with bold, angular lines, which cleverly conceals the ample interior space available for both passengers and luggage.
Discover his true size right here. We can reveal upfront that his main rivals include the BMW iX3, Tesla Model Y, and Volkswagen ID.4.
The Size Specifications
The latest Smart #5 model boasts a length of 4.71 meters, a width of 1.92 meters, and stands 1.71 meters tall. It features a particularly spacious wheelbase measuring 2.90 meters, positioning it in the higher end of its category.
Space and Cargo Area
The dimensions and wheelbase of the new smart #5 clearly suggest that there is a considerable amount of space available for occupants, both in the front and back seats, at least theoretically.
Passengers in the back seat have the luxury of enjoying ample headroom, which boasts an impressive measurement of 1,060 mm. This space can be fully utilized thanks to the cutting-edge "Zero-Gravity" seats that have the capability to recline up to 121 degrees.
Despite the company not yet disclosing the cargo space capacity when set up with five seats, it's expected that the new Smart #5 will also impress with its load volume: the maximum trunk space available with a two-seat setup is up to 1,530 liters.
In addition to the rear trunk, the new Smart SUV features an additional storage compartment at the front under the hood. This space, known as the "Frunk," has a capacity of 72 liters and is ideal for stowing items such as charging cables that one might not want to mix with other cargo.

Competitors of Comparable Size
As previously mentioned, the competition for the new Smart #5 is extensive. Within its class, the D-segment, electric models such as the BMW iX3, Volkswagen ID.4, Skoda Enyaq, and the ubiquitous Tesla Model Y can be found – the latter has been the top-selling model in this category for years.
All of them feature dimensions that are comparable to the German-Chinese crossover, with the trunk capacity fluctuating based on the exterior design and specific interior configurations.
