Sergio Perez’s Red Bull Future Uncertain as Alex Albon Commits to Williams: F1 Contract Talks Continue
Red Bull no longer considers Alex Albon as an alternative, leaving Sergio Perez in limbo regarding his Formula 1 prospects.
Sergio Perez remains in the dark about his continuance at Red Bull beyond 2024.
Sergio Perez disclosed that he has not made any progress towards securing a fresh contract with Red Bull F1, despite Alex Albon extending his stay with Williams.
Before the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix taking place this weekend, Williams revealed that Albon had agreed to a new deal spanning several years, ensuring his stay with the team until 2027 or beyond.
Albon emerged as a top candidate to possibly succeed Perez, considering his previous connections with the team.
Albon was a teammate to Max Verstappen for a little more than a year, spanning from 2019 to 2020, before being replaced in the following season.
In 2022, the driver from Thailand made a comeback to Formula 1, joining Williams and leading the team to its most impressive placement in recent years, securing 7th place in the championship last season.
With Albon no longer available, Perez's chances of securing an additional year at Red Bull have increased.

Perez also left open the possibility of discussions with additional teams, summarizing his stance with: "As long as nothing is finalized, all options are on the table."
